A Perfect Day

Today we went out to Suzanne's ranch, a place I hold near and dear to my heart for numerous reasons.  First and foremost, she had her wedding reception out there and it was unbelievable!!!  You know that scene in "8 Seconds" (yes, with Luke Perry), where they are at the wedding and doing that little boot scootin' dance under the lights out in the yard???  Thats what her reception reminded me of, but a thousand times better! :)
Secondly, I love the ranch because it is my only place in the world where I feel free to be "Katie the Country Girl".  Out there I don't really mind having bugs land on my arm, ants bite my feet, and stepping in the occasional cow patty.  While I've never gone and bought a pair of cowboy boots and Rocky Mountain jeans, never have never will, I do LOVE that place and the fact I can yell "Yeeehawwww" out there in my leopard flats.

But the reason I love the ranch the most is the fact that it provided for the PERFECT class cutting activity while Suz and I were at A&M (and maybe a few times in high school). When the weather was unbelievable, or if we just didn't want to go to school that day :), we'd head out to the ranch with the windows rolled down blaring Avril Lavigne tunes and singing like we didn't care. :)  It was perfect (except Suz really can sing, and I totally stink beyond words).  Then we'd get there and she would let me ride Pearl, the 90 year old gray BLIND horse who would trip over anything just trotting around (God rest her soul).  And Suz would jump on Buttercup, her perfect blonde Palamino whose mane blew in the wind and who gallopped like a trained professional.  And you know what?  It was perfect. :)

Thanks for letting me share such a special place with my kiddos Suz and Cash!! :):)  We had a blast! :)

That's fantastic!! Sounds like an amazing day. I love the ranch too. (Even though I really don't love bugs and ants.) :)
